So how good are we?

More like good thing his wife decided to stay in Carbondale so he could use that as an excuse to leave. Western does not operate like a DI school. I was speaking to a student who sits in front of me before class began today (student is an athlete at WIU), and we somehow got on the conversation of travel. The student said the team traveled by bus from Macomb to Denver to Brookings in a 4-5 day period. That is absurd to me, and I could not imagine spending that much time on a bus.

This was against an under .500 team in the conference. It would be interesting to see what teams did to them in their losses.
I agree that both Brandon and Dalan must score and be efficient for the team to win. You can almost tell by Dalan's first few shots how the game is going to go for him, and when he is bad he is really bad. He has always reminded me of Tommie Tyler in the sense that you are constantly holding your breath with him because you never know what is going to happen. This team somewhat goes as Dalan goes which is somewhat unfortunate because this is the first year he has really had to play a major role, and I am not convinced he is the type of player that you want to put 100% faith in to "lead" the troops.

I thought Defense was supposed to be the teams strong point, giving up 90 points to Fort Wayne, plus many other 70+ scoring nights by the opponents makes it tough for them to win.

Defense has not been great for sure. But the two stats that bother me most are on the offensive end. We are last in assists/game at 8.5.
In fact, in the game against FW, Jalen Morgan led the team with 3. Something is wrong with the system if a part-timer big off the bench is leading your team in assists. We are also last in offensive rebounds/game at 6.0. We are simply not scrappy and would rather get back on defense.

Yep, defense, defense, defense, even though it is not very good. C'mon, the idea is to score more points than the other team. There we are pathetic. Look at the success JD has had with the women scoring points. Not only is it successful, it is far more fun to watch. Watching score <50 points is like watching paint dry.

Here we go. Playing at Frost. I have not been to all of the Summit arenas, but this place is tough. The crowd really tries to get under the skin of opposing players and coaches.

Wish I had video to see the "Beehive" defense.

Well, Gilbeck with his 2nd at the 15 minute mark. I was wondering what the over/under for that would be.

South Dakota State is ahead 38-23 at the half. Brandon Gilbeck has only played 4 minutes.

It is very obvious that what a foul looks like on one end does not look the same on the other end.
