Omaha comes in as the Summit cellar dweller but you never know. This is the time of year when kids want to prove they are better than they have been. Seniors are realizing their careers are coming to an end and do not want to go out on a losing note.

Get up early and keep the pedal to the metal. On the way home, stop off at the "Bob", straddle two states and send us a celebratory selfie.

Embrace the pace of the race.

South Dakota has been on the rise since moving up to Division I in 2008.

Now the Coyotes can add an appearance in The Associated Press women’s basketball poll to their achievements.

Riding a nine-game winning streak, coach Dawn Plitzuweit’s team entered the AP Top 25 at No. 25 on Monday for the first time in school history.

The Coyotes (22-3), who are off to their best start as a DI school, have five consecutive 20-win seasons. The team is 74-19 in Plizuweit’s three years at the school. She took over a team that won the WNIT title in 2016.

South Dakota already has win this season over Iowa State and Missouri when the Tigers were ranked.

The Coyotes’ first game as a ranked team will be on Saturday at Western Hall. Game time is 4:30 PM (following the 2PM Men's game vs USD). Saturday is the Alumni & Friends Tailgate in the north balcony.

They do just about everything very well. I could not find any statistical weakness to exploit. Need to have some hot hands on Saturday. Luke warm will not cut it.

The Leatherneck zone could be stretched a bit should the 3 pointers fall for the yotes. They will likely try to play physical as well. I have seen where the Leatherneck drivers to the basket helped overwhelm UND at Grand Forks. That may open up your own long range shooters if they can find those shots inside. USD has been fairly consistent which will not be good to look for an off day by the yotes. They will also have the wind in the sails with cracking the Top 25. Hopefully JD will have a good crowd too. By the way, Macomb and Brookings are the only 2 away games left on their schedule. It is not likely they lose at home to the Denver, UND, NDSU squads.
