If all goes well on Saturday, I will be flying in to Sioux Falls in time to see our game against the Jacks, unlike last year when I was watching the drama unfold from the Sioux Falls airport. Weather forecast looks to be chilly at best for the duration of tournament. Chilly for me is anything under 30 degrees but that could be a heat wave for midwesterners this year.

Who's coming? I assume the Pep Band, Cheer and Dance Teams will make an appearance.

What are our chances to pull of a miracle upset on Saturday night? I kind of miss the Mo Ball days in games like this. Slow tempo, dont give them any easy looks at the bucket (unlike nearly all of them from Flatten on Saturday), treat every possession like it's your last, etc. When a Mo team got blown out, it was a 15 point deficit at most and we were usually within 10 one way or the other for 95% of Mo games. All systems have their pluses and minuses. I think back to that Championship Game against the Jacks with TP and CC. I actually thought we were the more athletic team on the court that night and the slow tempo worked against us but just my opinion. We have to play at a very high caliber on Saturday to win, that is all I know for sure.

BTW, if anyone needs a ticket for the tournament, I have one. Won a pair of all-session passes via the Summit League "Ask the Coach" contest earlier in the season. PM me if interested. If I don't hear from anyone by Friday, I might have to resort to a Sioux Falls escort service. ;)

Go Necks!

P.S. I assume Tom will be dipping in to an order or two of the Chislic at the Denny again this year.

UPDATE: I think I now have a taker for the ticket.

I have a cheerleader in one of my courses. She said there are only three cheerleaders, so she won't be heading to the tournament. I am not sure if she is speaking specifically for herself or the whole squad.

Small numbers on this year's cheerleading squad.

No male cheerleaders for football and basketball.

A few basketball games had no cheerleaders even though the school was not on a break.

Usually 5-6 female cheerleaders at the basketball games.

Just FYI, I believe that the advisor for the cheerleaders was one of the people laid off on Friday.

As for the pep band, last I heard was that if both teams made it in, they were going. So they should be there.

I'll be on my way down to Texas with my family to get some warmer weather and see my sister-in-law.

Cheer loudly

Men’s basketball crumbles, but still makes the tournament.

How much revenue would there be in concession and bar sales? Would it be equal to or greater than ticket sales?

Dani Nichols good choice for Freshman of year. I had her tabbed for it (or the Newcomer award) about a month ago. Remarkable improvement as season progressed. I guess Newcomer award is reserved for kids who transfer from another college.

One burger basket with a beer before game starts, some popcorn or ice cream (<<<---- highly recommended) at halftime along with another beer or in my case probably a Jack and Coke to wash it down with, and I am well beyond my ticket cost for the session ($23?). That is not all revenue but nothing to sneeze about. Summit League tournament is still the best bargain in college entertainment that I attend by far. SEC baseball tournament in Birmingham ranks pretty high as well.

Saturday weather for Sioux Falls area starting to look a little rough. 3-5 inches of snow expected, winds up to 40mph. That probably means just an extra layer for the hardy Dakota folks. If you getting in on Friday or Sunday, things look better.
