"New" business on the east side of town

Miscellaneous discussions. Things that don't have anything to do with Western, Leatherneck Athletics, college sports in general, etc.

Apparently Starbucks is opening a location at the old Ponderosa steakhouse in front of Walmart. Not quite sure why they need two locations that close to each other, or if they're going to close the one in Hy-Vee or something.

One less empty building I guess.

Why bring something new to town when you can add another of something you already have.

To be fair, it's not like we have a ton of options. There are a few places that do go into towns our size that we don't already have though.

Someday soon, drones will be delivering your morning coffee directly to your house and dropping it off in insulated cup holders attached to your porch railings.
Embrace the pace of the race.

I would really rather they not. I don't drink coffee.

A lot of people were hoping that Steak 'n Shake would be taking over the Ponderosa building.

My hopes were: Steak n Shake, Culver's, Sonic...something along those lines.

Steak 'n Shake would have been great. I got my Frisco Melt fix in Galesburg over the weekend after running a 5k there. The bigger race in Davenport was postponed because of flooding, but Lord willing, I will be back for it in September.
Embrace the pace of the race.

Hard to imagine any Starbucks needs that much space.

I agree, although I figured they'd probably just tear it down and build something new. Either that or maybe split it in half and find someone else to go in the other side.
