The FCS playoffs kicks into high gear this weekend with all the seeded teams hosting the 8 teams that won their games last weekend.
In the MVFC realm (both games on ESPN3):
1 PM - Northern Iowa (9-4) at #7 South Dakota State (8-4) - a rematch of their conference game on November 16 where SDSU blew out UNI, 38-7.
2 PM - Illinois State (9-4) at #8 Central Arkansas (9-3) - also a rematch, but one you have to go back to 2016 for. In the first round of the 2016 playoffs, Illinois State lost at Central Arkansas 31-24
2:30 PM - Nicholls (9-4) at #1 North Dakota State (12-0) - Nicholls got the "reward" of going to NDSU after defeating the other North Dakota team 24-6 last weekend.

Other playoff games are: Albany at #5 Montana State (2 PM), Austin Peay at #4 Sacramento State (8 PM), Monmouth (NJ) at #2 James Madison (12 PM), Southeastern LA at #6 Montana (2 PM), and Kennesaw State at #3 Weber State (2 PM)

In the FBS, it's conference championship weekend, of which none of the "localish" teams are involved. Closest games of interest would probably be:
11 AM - MAC Championship Game - Miami OH (7-5) vs Central Michigan (8-4), ESPN2
7 PM - Big Ten Championship Game - #1 Ohio State (12-0) vs #12 Wisconsin (10-2), FOX

Illinois finished 6-6 and should end up playing in a bowl game this year; current projections are either the Quick Lane Bowl (Detroit) on December 26 or the New Era Pinstripe Bowl (NYC) on December 27
Iowa was 9-3 and will be in a bowl game; possibly either the Redbox Bowl (Santa Clara, CA) on December 30 or the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl (Jacksonville, FL) on January 2.
Missouri also finished 6-6, but due to NCAA sanctions, are ineligible for the postseason (football, softball, and baseball)
Northwestern finished 3-9 and are also done for the season.
Our FBS opponent this year, Colorado State, finished the season 4-8, and are also done for the year.

In lower-division news for teams in our region of the country:

DII Texas A&M-Commerce battles #1 Minnesota State
(In DII, each quadrant has 8 teams, with four of them ranked 1-4)
