I don't care how good a recruiter the HC is or is not. If the program wins on the field, it recruits itself (NDSU).

I'm sure the lawsuit details can be smoothed over :)
Well, it might help bring back some of the support of the football alumni that we lost when he was let go.
But seriously though...he's 65. I'd be surprised if he's not retired within the next year or two. I doubt he wants to deal with another HC position.

Matt Entz would be a good hire, and keep AJ as the OC.

Just joking.

Entz would be great, I think regardless of the hire, it would be best to get that new coach in place ASAP. Try to keep as many recruits as possible and get back out on the trail.

No matter who they try to get, WIU has to do one hell of a selling point to the next HC. Other than being broke, the next HC has to revamp the defensive line, recruit better secondary players, and deal with the QB controversy (do you start Norvell or McGuire).

I thought Entz as well, but he's possibly a year away from being the HC at NDSU. Worth looking into though.

Can't start completely over with a new staff unless they run a similar system. Promote from within, retain some staff, and maybe this new head coach makes the few changes needed for this offense to be very effective.

Adam Dorrel, NW Mo State (DII) another guy who just gets it done.

Whether we want WIU to or not, they will likely promote from within. That's pretty much been the modus operandi for all recent administrative hires.

But if you're going to do it, do it NOW to get a top assistant to stay instead fleeing to South Dakota.

I gave a solid look at him too, although I think we'd have a hard time wrangling him away from NW Missouri State. With him there, it's not all about the money.
He grew up in Maryville, MO (home of NW Mo State), played for them from '94-'97, was a grad assistant there in 98/99, assistant from 04-10, and head coach since 2011. Also, his great-grandfather, grandfather, and two great-uncles all played for the team.

He's very successful, but this kinda feels like his "dream job" unless he has aspirations of coaching at the D1 level. Might be worth a shot though. He's young, and his teams have been very good (playing this weekend in the D2 championship game).
