Today the state Senate approved the revenue bill on a 36-18 vote.

State Senator Jil Tracy (Republican from Quincy) voted No. She is the senator for Macomb.

However, State Senator Dale Righter (Republican from Mattoon) voted Yes. He is the senator for Charleston. And he is a EIU alumnus. He provided the only Yes vote from the Republicans.

The State Senator for Carbondale (Paul Schimpf, Republican from Waterloo) voted No.

The State Senator for DeKalb (Dave Syverson, Republican from Rockford) also voted No.

From Bruce Rauner's Twitter at 1:39 PM: "I just vetoed Speaker Madigan's 32% permanent income tax increase."

I wouldn't mind the tax increase if I trusted the leaders to actually use it for what it's supposed to be and not just what ever they want.

The Illinois Senate voted to override Gov. Bruce Rauner’s vetoes of a $36 billion budget package.

The House did not plan to take up the action today because a lot of their members had left Springfield. Looks like they will vote on Thursday.

The Daily Eastern News is reporting that the budget package would provide 100 percent funding for Eastern in FY 17 (which ended June 30), 90 percent funding for Eastern in FY 18 (which started July 1), full Monetary Award Program funding for both FY 17 and FY 18, and almost $5 million for needed capital repairs.

If they get all the money back, with the cuts made and belt tightening done, they should be sitting pretty. Really surprised they would give anything back from prior years except maybe for MAP. The past is over and done.

The House will meet on Thursday afternoon to vote for a veto over-ride.

Rauner has fired up his political machine with robo-calls going out against the 15 House Republicans (including Macomb's Norine Hammond) who voted Yes on the proposed budget.

To balance out Rauner, "Do Your Job, Inc" is sending out robo-calls in support of those 15 Republicans.

I sure hope the House votes to override the veto. We must have a budget.

But then, the legislature needs to be in session making progress toward cuts, e.g., the special interest spending, such as the $4B EIU got for their senator to vote for the budget. That is merely buying votes, and should be, just as it was for Blago, illegal. Any special interest bill should be a standalone, not tied into a budget that affects all. If a majority can decide that a special interest is needed, e.g., a 3rd Chicago area airport, fine, but not as a rider where to pass the main issue you have to accept the little crap that goes along with it.

The House convenes at 1:30 PM to deal with the override motions.

So help me out. How did the Senator representing Macomb vote on the overiding of the Governor's veto? She's republican- did she do as he ordered her to do, or, did she vote to override his veto.

She voted against the bill and against overriding the veto.
