Except they weren't really trans, just using it as a joke. That's the part that won't really fly today.

I would love to see the veterans club be more involved in things though. Show up at tailgating with their plungers and mop wigs, lead a "tailgater's march" from Q-lot to the field, get some kind of student section again and have them organize/lead cheers from the walkway in front of the stands...that kind of stuff.

I agree they would have to be toned down a little  but I think they would still be able to maintain some of their identity, espcially if your non-football related activiteis are for good causes, as their seemed to be back in the day.

True. And they were doing stuff like that even just a few years ago I think. No balloons under their shirts, less involvement of the plungers, but they'd still show up at games and stuff. Idk why that stopped.

Dare I say they were just boring and not helping to bring anything additional to the games?

I see the Bison did something cool today. Brought in the National Guard Band from Fargo to join in on the half-time festivities.  We need to scout what they do on the field of strife in all respects.

That's pretty cool. I know that a lot of schools also do a "band day" where they have all the local HS marching bands show up, sit in the stands, then get to participate in the halftime show. I think that might help encourage local kids to get interested in WIU football somewhat.

Another thing...the last home game...we had a flyover by jets at the end of the national anthem. I wonder if maybe they should have mentioned/promoted that somewhere that it was going to happen? Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any mention that they were going to do that before the game. Might have gotten a couple more people there.

Lawson…we had band day back when I played and the stadium was full!  We also had Parents Weekend (did we have that this year?), and homecoming.  Big crowds for at least 3 home games.  I believe we had Hall of Fame day and Ag day.  I will review my saved programs and let you know.

The 1st game was family weekend.

What are the hardcopy Couriers like these days.  If anything like the online offering, I am not impressed.  I would anxiously await delivery of that thing every M, W, and especially F when all the weekend activities, specials at the uptown bars, etc were advertised.  I know all the social media is available today which is good for students and true insiders but probably does little for the town folk to keep track of upcoming things.

I don't think they print the Courier anymore. I believe it's all online now.

I haven't seen a Courier in ages. They used to leave copies at restaurants, etc. but I haven't seen any in what seems like forever. Of course, the Courier isn't like the paper I remember, either.  ;)
