An entire week to build a national search committee? Perhaps the new interim AD doesn't get back from vacation for another week and apparently must want to now be part of the process so that it is convenient for his schedule.
This is beyond an epic failure and likely to hurt the program for the next 2-3 years due to the year that is going to be lost from a recruiting perspective.

If you don't want a guy to jump ship to another team in conference, put it in the contract. Don't blame one or the other of the parties when it does happen.
The question is how much can we pay a head coach. If we can't match the current lowest pay in the Valley, see my signature line for further advice.

Scott,
South Dakota violated the conventional covenant of not hiring a sitting coach from the same conference. They are responsible for this behavior. I am sure this situation with Bob stewed behind the scenes for longer than many of us previously understood. If Bob had left for a non-MVFC FCS program, I would be less upset with him. But, he did and this makes him party to a violation of this same honor covenant. Bad behavior from both parties.

I'm not in favor of letting the players select the next coach, that is why you have an AD, etc... but it does seem there is overwhelming support for him. This whole thing has been a big embarrassment, from internet reports breaking on Friday about Nielson leaving to today.
It doesn't seem like anybody knows what they are doing, I will give them a little slack, with Tanney not being in the country. I would hope if Matt was around things wouldn't be this messed up. Anyway I am embarrassed to be a WIU alum and fan right now.

I think any involved in this shitstorm should lose their job.
PERIOD..
THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE PAID (rather handsomely, i might add) TO DO.
Time to get all these losers out of here. Heck im sure you could even eliminate one or the other and wouldn't even notice it in day-to-day operations. BOOM there is $100k+ saved.
Starting a search NEXT WEEK?!?!?! Are f-ing kidding me?????????
This shows you what type of people are in control here.

Bottom in the MVFC, as far as I know, is Indiana State who is (last time I checked) at $180k base. We had Nielson at $205k base. It's not a ton more, but we weren't last.
Don't know what we can afford now and what they were offering Yelk and staff though.

Seal, didn't he actually have another year on his contract already? I thought it wasn't up until 2016.
I have no clue what money they are talking for the position - when it is said they tried to "lowball" Yelk, how low was it? I have no clue what he is making now, but at a first year at head coach I would hope he wasn't expecting the same thing Nielson's contract was for.
Just don't know what to think. If we couldn't pay what he wanted, how are we gonna pay an experienced HC?

If we wait until next week to form a search committee, and then wait a few more weeks for selecting a coach, then we can save money on recruiting because there won't be any athletes left to recruit.
This entire coaching regime is now likely going to be gone along with any recruiting efforts they have made thus far.
