Not a big track person but that sucks because he seemed to be doing a great job and was a local guy so hoping he’d stick around. I’m guessing the track coach doesn’t make a lot though

Did a search online and it looks like he was at $56k in FY23. I agree that it seemed like he was doing good things. Bubb just said personal reasons, so it could be anything...higher paying job, wanting to go into a field that isn't coaching (like Seth Minter did), etc. Idk what his degree is in, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was able to find a non-coaching job that pays quite a bit more. I assume we'll also lose his wife Stephanie as an assistant coach, but if he's going to another job in the area, maybe not.

Arnie Grunert had quite a season in the pole vault.  Finished 17th in nationals, probably not using his preferred pole as it snapped during his warmups.  I have wondered how vaulters get their poles (I assume they carry a few) to the competition site.  In HS, you simply throw them in the aisle between the seats on that yellow bus.  Probablly fit in the cargo bay of Greyhound bus with no issues.  But if you have no bus, how do get them where they need to go.  Ship them?  Rent a U-Haul?

Well anyway, congrats to Arnie on a job well done this year.  Seems like every year, we have a standout or two in the program.  Need more Arnies though.

I appreciate all the support from you - the community, alumni, and fans over the past three years! WIU Athletics as a whole is in a great position to succeed, maybe the best position it's been in for the past decade or more. I look forward to joining you all as a fan now.
My wife Stephanie races tomorrow night at 6:17 central time in the USA Olympic Trials. There are four sections of nine women who race in the 800m prelims; top-six finishers in each section and the next three fastest times advance to the semi-final. The semi-final races are Sunday at 8:11pm central time. There are three sections of nine women. Top-two in each section and the next three fastest times advance to the final. The 800m final is Monday at 9:32pm central time. Nine girls. Top-3 qualify for the USA Olympic team. Live results and start list link is attached below. All rounds should be televised as well!
