Them tackle rings must have been the hottest item at this year's coaches convention. Everyone is jumping on them now. They supposedly teach a proper rugby tackling technique. Need to make one with a remote control to simulate runner "shiftiness". I think it is doable. Last week in New Orleans, I got my first ride on a Segway while touring the French Qtr. A gyroscope or two like the ones in the Segway along with a little firmware, I think I could have those rings doing a jitterbug.

All of this energy has me pumped up enough to check out the air fares for the spring game. Haven't committed quite yet. Maybe I should take care of my federal taxes now to see if I might have a few extra unexpected bucks coming my way.

It's really nice to see the head coach with some enthusiasm, not just a few of the assistants.

I haven't been on in a while but wanted to give everyone an update on what's going on with the football alumni. A massive effort by a few former players including myself to locate former players from all era's of Leatherneck is underway. Our list has gone from 40 or 50 to well over 400 in a short period of time but we have a long way to go! There's a lot of former Leathernecks out there that need to find our list.

We find 10 to 20 former players a day and they are excited someone has taken the initiative to do this and feel it's long overdue! No one has reached out to these former players since they left campus. Coach Fisher is adamant about former players being involved in his program and wants us on campus and around his team.

The list is shared with Charlie on a daily basis and he reaches out to the New additions immediately! Many are in disbelief because it's never happened before. I have gotten many text messages saying Coach just called me and he has me energized! The excitement from this staff is infectious!!

There will be many former players back on campus April 22nd and 23rd including former NFL players like Fran Winters, Rich Seubert and many more that inked pro contracts like Herb Donaldson etc. We've got guys like Matt Barr coming back and former players from 50's all the way through this past class taking part in this special weekend. All have been actively speaking with their teammates and getting them to committ to come back. I have close to 35 of my former teammates from the '76-'79 teams coming and 9 of them haven't been back in 37 years! Many feel it's been long overdue and feel the momentum Coach Fisher has created!

We have a great weekend planned with a golf outing at the Macomb CC on Friday morning at 10:30, tailgate at the Leatherneck Trailer that afternoon, Spring game at 7 and a huge group picture at midfield at halftime. We'll close the evening with a social at the Sports Corner after the game. On Saturday we will play in Coach Fishers golf outing which is a fund raiser for the football program and open to anyone that wants to support the program.

Coach Fisher is very good for this program and will do anything he can to ensure it will be successful! Great things happening in this program!

Once a Leatherneck...Always a Leatherneck!

Leathernecks57,

WOW, is all that I can say. Great post, great work. Amazing. With all of the crap going on with the State budget mess it feels so energizing and refreshing to hear/feel that the best of WIU football maybe yet to come :o
