I think that for some student/athletes the flexibility can be a good thing, but I agree that it's been horrible for the teams and their fans. Agree…I wouldn’t redshirt anyone. Of that total number:
- 2,073 players are from FBS schools
- 1,639 players are from FCS schools

3) There are thousands of D2 and D3 guys trying to move up.

Me: Those are alarming numbers. The portal is a mess right now. Look at Matthew Henry’s offers. UTEP, Arkansas State, Kent State and Rhode Island. Really nothing to write home about for a 6’1 178 WR. That size is considered undersized for FBS wideouts. Wherever he goes I doubt he will be the go to guy like he was in our offense. If I were a player today I would hate to be in the portal!
I did see a couple of our walk-ons that entered the portal just committed to NAIA schools. That’s why outside of Merklinger and Henry the kids going in the portal didn’t bother me. Our cornerbacks #1 Piper saw a lot of action this year and has one offer to Houston Christian University and #4 Henry has 0 offers. That would be scary in my eyes!
At the end of the day…a lot of kids will not have a home to begin Spring semester and will miss the important Spring ball schedule!
