I was going to do a write-up of the game, but kinda got hit with a cold the next day, and after reading the input that some of you guys have written, I think you all pretty much covered what all I was going to say.
We were sitting just off of the 50 on the visitor's side, about 4 rows up, which gave us a great view of the Leatherneck football player's backs, but not much else. Seriously...this was my view. So, you guys probably saw more either watching the streaming online or sitting higher up on the other side.
Hopefully most of the issues we had were just "knocking the rust off" first-game-type issues, because I saw some areas where we improved from last year, but some areas where we regressed. I'd say that the Leatherneck team that I saw out there was somewhat "on par" with how I remember seeing them play against Dayton near the end of last year. Decent enough for a win, but definitely not as well as they could have played.
I also wanted to mention that I just noticed that a couple of our players picked up a few awards for their performances this last week.
Brett Taylor - College Sports Madness MVFC Defensive Player of the Week (http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/fcs ... kly-awards)
Steve McShane - MVFC Co-Offensive Player of the Week (along with SDSU's Jake Wieneke) (http://www.valley-football.org/news/def ... -the-week/)
Brett Taylor and Nathan Knuffman both got MVFC Honorable Mentions for defensive and special teams (respectively)
Steve Mercado got MVFC Honorable Mention for Newcomer of the Week
Josh Baldus got MVFC Honorable Mention for O-Lineman of the Week
