When it's all said and done we need to take a look at the entire picture before we start evaluating the coaching staff that is being assembled by our NEW HC before he has it in place. I'm pretty sure it will be a good one...he's been in the business way too long to be judged this early especially by people that have never played or coached the game.
A lot of good things in your post that I agree with, the quote above though is the exception. Tim Beckman didn't tell you to write this, did he!? This is a fan message board, so if someone has an opinion on something, they shouldn't need to present football credentials to do so! Same goes for those in the press; playing/coaching does not NEED to be a prerequisite to reporting and forming opinions. All I was getting at with my recent posts is that it's my opinion the better option would have been to hire Yelk and retain some of the existing assistants. I think that option would have made ALOT more sense on the recruiting trail without sacrificing much on the X&Os, team management end. The knock on Yelk and Co. were they weren't experienced enough. Well, this staff seems to be pretty green too.
I'm done with voicing those concerns now though. That ship has sailed. Welcome Coach Fisher and all he brings on board! We've had a taste of success and we want more! Glad to hear the former Leathernecks are rallying around you, that support is invaluable. It truly is your program and its future success will need your support as well as the students, alumni, and regional community. Go 'Necks!!!

Press conference is supposed to be on UTV Channel 3...live stream available here at 1 PM:
EDIT: just fyi, President Thomas referred to Matt Tanney as "Director of Athletics"....no "interim" tag.
Watching it from home on Channel 3. Definitely issues with the feed. Audio finally got fixed during Q&A.
And I noticed that too, Director of Athletics, no interim title noted by President Thomas.

Appreciate that emphasis on hard-nosed football. Is there really any other way to play the game?

Football Alumni should be happy he took a nice chunk of speech to recognize them and talk about wanting to connect with them and have his players connect with them.

It was also great to see that Jared Elliot was there as well and he was really talking and interacting with the fans that were there.
