Very, very true

I'd pass on him. No connections to Western and has recently held a job at a BCS conference. To me, that means he'd bolt after a year if the opportunity was there.

Update: I had really good meetings today with some influential administrators from campus, athletic department and a couple of players on campus today. The consensus of everyone was that certain former assistants were not HC material and it was actually a blessing in disguise that it didn't go down. Be it right or wrong...
The head coaching position was actually posted today and applications are now being excepted. Everybody I talked with is excited about the choices that have surfaced. The search committee has agreed to work over the holidays to get selections narrowed down and the HC hired as soon as possible.
Some really good candidates are very interested in being back on campus including former Leatherneck players and coaches Frisman Jackson, Bill O'Boyle and Deion Melvin but many more attractive possibilities exist as well! I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the interest this position is receiving. We will get the right coach...I have faith in this committee!!
I received phone calls today from the alumni that are leading the charge for the west side stadium renovation. There goal is to have a short list of committee members by January 8, 2016 and will start holding meetings on campus and in the Chicago area soon after.
Stay positive...it will all work out!!!

How about O'Boyle with Jackson as an assistant?
Heck, any combination of former players/coaches that truly love the school/community that could really sell it to recruits?
O'Boyle does stand out to me.

So.....Leatherneck57 for the inaugural Leatherneck Nation Poster of the Year award? He's been here 5 days and had 16 posts, but if this was facebook, I would have "liked" pretty much every one.
Great info 57, glad to hear that there's a solid group of alumni who are on board with getting this ship (naval vessel?) turned around and in the right direction.

So, should be add Navy ROTC to the campus offerings? Many schools have more than just one. It might provided competition with an already good ROTC program, plus honor the Marine history of Western. Plus, it might help offset the bad feelings the Marines have for us after our marketing bastardization of the Marine logo.

That's be pretty cool, but I don't know if that's really our call. I looked into it once (as to why we don't have one) and it looks like it's up to the Navy to decide where their ROTC programs are.
