I really think people are underestimating the season that Sean McGuire is going to have.

Western never seems to garner any top 4 respect. :(

IMHO throw 2-8 in a hat and just pull out the numbers. League wide, a lot of question marks this season.

Meh, make that 3-8 anybody's guess. I feel SDSU is prob, a ligit #2.

Here is a platitude about latitude. You don't want to be too far south of 40° 30′ N.

Not as curious as you might think if you consider who their competition for recruits is. Up north...the Dakotas and Iowa mostly...there's not really anyone in the G5 range. There's a few P5 teams...Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State...but the further south you go, the more G5 competition you have for recruits. You also have more other FCS teams there too. Within 100 miles of Southern Illinois you have: Murray State, SEMO, and Tennessee-Martin. You're also not too far from Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State, and Western Kentucky...all of which would likely compete for the same recruits as SIU. Any further south and you're also into SEC territory, where many fans are all about their closest SEC team and pretty much forget about everyone else. Lots of people paying attention to 'Bama...Tennessee...Ole' Miss....and Mizzou.

I'm not saying that's the only reason, but it's probably a big reason.
