Macomb enrollment = 7,235.
Quad Cities enrollment = 1,267.

Total = 8,502.

Eastern's enrollment of 7,526 puts it ahead of Western.
Relax 712. Jack Thomas will fix it.

To be fair, a large part of that is demographics and class size + state budget issues. Most universities in the state are down a lot from the 70s. I don't think our current administration has done much to help things though.

If it's "demographics and class size + state budget issues," then why has WIU been sliding since 2006 while SIUE was increasing and why is EIU now slowing 2 consecutive years of growth compared to back-to-back ~10% losses at WIU?

Sorry, but leadership is at fault for always presenting excuses and spin news rather than addressing the problem.

I meant as compared to the 70s. Lots of people going to college...baby boomers + people avoiding the draft + people on the GI Bill. There have been some larger generations come through since, but nothing like the confluence of events that led to near record enrollment and growth at many universities at the time.

Now, more recent history...yes, that is in large part due to bad management, although the trend to go less rural and more urban for school hasn't helped us either.

Chicago State and Illinois State also started on August 20. So their numbers should be coming out soon.

The three UI's, NIU, Northeastern Illinois, and Governors State started on August 27. Their numbers should be coming out next week.

Illinois State is at 20,635, which is down 0.72% from the 20,784 from last year.

Do we know if that number of 934 freshmen is the combined total (Macomb and QC), or is it just for the Macomb campus ???

If 934 is the combined freshmen total, the Macomb number may be closer to that 800 number that had been earlier predicted.

Don't know yet, but the full breakdown should be available at the links here (http://wiu.edu/IRP/enrollments/) after a while. I'll keep an eye on it.
