We are currently in a state of flux because we are having our kitchen and family room remodeled which means that at times I have plenty of time to follow all the politics but also time to keep track of what is happening at WIU. My wife let me know about the BOT meeting and so I spent a couple of hours listening in to the meeting and the different presentations. I am very very very impressed with many of the people that are now working for WIU. The gentleman who has taken over enrollment is solid and bright and leading a team of very positive and hardworking individuals which is why enrollment is turning back in the right direction. The lady who is the VP at the Quad Cities and her team have suggested WIUQC be more of a "finishing school" (upper level courses) producing graduates that can move on immediately to fill job needs in Engineering, Supply Chain Management etc. Dr. Abraham is surrounding himself with some outstanding academic talent and I am liking the direction of WIU more and more. We are lucky to have him and hopefully we will be wise enough to keep him. ;) jc

Oh, one more thing, the facilities director announced that the contracts for CPA update design have been negotiated and agreed upon and they are moving forward quickly to get this project started.

Kristi Mindrup is the VP in charge of the QC campus.

Doug Freed is currently the director of admissions. If I remember correctly, we also heard from Gary Swegan (associate vp for enrollment management) and Justin Schuch (Executive Director of Retention Initiatives) during the presentation.

Troy Rhoads is the director of facilities management.

Interesting story about Doug Freed. We had initially hired him on a temporary basis until the hiring process for the official director of admissions was completed. They got the new guy in and he lasted all of 2 weeks before getting fired (I think he was trying to make too many big changes too fast and without approval from higher up). They were able to get Doug to come back to fill in until the next hiring committee does it’s thing.

My wife ordered a Leatherneck mask this afternoon. I will wear it with pride. Now, I made personal contact with Troy Rhodes and he once again said that 8.9 million had be released by the state and the architect of record is once again under contract to complete the review and update of the plans for the CPA. The university is definitely to get this project going along with the remodeling and addition to Curran's hall. Bot of these projects no longer are on the list of future capital projects because they have been approved and the university is pushing as hard as possible to get them going. It will definitely mean a whole lot of jobs and a whole lot of money passed to and through Macomb and the surrounding area. ;) jc

We ordered 2 of each, but be forewarned, they are $15 + $2.50 processing each.
