The governor put out his FY2022 budget plan today. Here's info about a bunch of what's going on with it: https://capitolfax.com/2021/02/17/pritz ... dget-plan/
And here's the direct links to the documents: https://www2.illinois.gov/sites/budget/ ... fault.aspx

WIU President Dr. Huang put out some comments: http://www.wiu.edu/news/newsrelease.php ... e_id=17693

Important bits as it pertains to us:
  • Flat (same level as previous two years) funding for operating budget of $49.598 million.
  • "The Governor has also recommended re-appropriating all of Western's capital development funds, including funds for the WIU-Quad Cities campus in Moline and Center for the Performing Arts (CPA) on the Macomb campus." - so I guess that means that the Center for the Performing Arts project is officially "dead" for the forseeable future...not entirely surprising, but still disappointing that it never was able to get done.

How much money wasted in the planning and design of the CPA? I just wish my pockets were as deep as all forms of government. Wait, their pockets are our pockets! Crud! People tend to forget that fact.

Seems like we have some confusion about the verbiage, re-appropriate and the future of the CPA! My wife saw an article about Build Illinois and it’s effect on keeping students in the state of Illinois. JB Pritzker was speaking at Lake County Junior College and mentioned the capital improvements at Chicago State and SIU. So I took another look at President Huang’s comments regarding state funding and halting work on the CPA made no sense. And that’s exactly right. Re-appropriate means the money is or will be released again by the state. I talked to someone at WIU facilities this morning and the redesign updating of the plans for the CPA continues at full speed. ;) jc

I love your unwavering optimism NFS71. However, If these capital improvements finally do come to fruition I doubt I will live long to see it.
