The QC campus has never succeeded, going downhill day after day. The beautiful new building should have brought a surge of opportunity, but that opportunity was wasted, followed by excuse after excuse.Leatherneck10 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 9:46 am Jack and Joe’s legacy keeps growing.

At this stage, I highly doubt we can make it work. Be gone with it and focus on our Macomb campus and our online programming.

Need housing to attract international students. If you built the damn the railroad (when is that going to be done), it would be attractive to Chicagoland students. I have only been in the place once a few years back (it was a letdown) but I think that was before the latest addition. I need to revisit. The location is top notch along the river. I think it would be best suited not as a general purpose multi-program facility but instead something geared to a specific program or similar programs (e.g. health sciences). There will always be a huge demand for nurses, therapists, dental techs, etc. BTW, I am sending my wife to EICC to get her Dental Assistant certfication right now.
A few years back, I made a bold prediction that we would be playing WIU-QC in basketball 20 (or was it 25) years into to future. Still might happen. In fact, it is probably even more likely now but it might be UI-QC. LOL
Update: I assume this is the property that was intended for student housing. Very nice now. Not sure what it was before the renovation. Only a pebble toss to campus.

I know it might hurt the university's image a little to let it go, but it's been a money sink for us and has never panned out. If we're going to continue to get static levels of funding from the state, then it might be better to let the U of I turn it into a northern version of UIS...UIQC...or something. I could see them getting it up to a few thousand students (like UIS is). We'd be better off taking what we're putting towards the QC campus and shifting it back to Macomb.
For anyone curious about the location of the apartment complex they're talking about, here's the aerial view (the apartments are the U-shaped building on the left side). It's just under 800 feet from the corner of the apartment complex to the nearest WIU-QC building.

I could see UI-QC starting as a D3, maybe even D2 sports school. TBK Bank Sports Complex on the IA side of River could host basketball, softball, bowling, volleyball, ... until campus facilities are available.
