Senior Guard Anthony Jones has entered the transfer portal.
Jones was, along with Senior Jake Weyhrich, one of the only hold-overs from the previous season, transferring to WIU prior to the 2019/20 season from Coffeyville CC (Kansas).
This last season, Jones played in 20 games (started 6), averaging 19.3 minutes per game, 6.2 points per game, and 2.8 rebounds per game.
He was 37 out of 91 (.407) for FGs, 3 of 19 (.158) for 3-pters, and 46 of 62 (.742) for FTs.

I just saw that: https://twitter.com/VerbalCommits/statu ... 1610339338

Justin played 2018-19 at Bryant and Stratton College (JUCO)
2019-20 at Iowa Lakes CC
This last season, Brookens played in 22 games (starting 7), averaging 16 minutes per game. He scored 6.9 ppg, was .386 on FGs, .353 on 3pts, and .762 on FTs, and had 34 rebounds (1.5 per game) and 32 assists.
I know our coaching staff played around a lot with different starting lineups this year to see what combinations worked best. Brookens started in Iowa game to start the season, then started 6 games in a row (UT-Martin, DePaul, 2x NDSU, 2x SDSU) but didn't start any games after Jan. 9th. Since that point, he averaged 10.2 minutes per game.

Some kids just dont like riding the bench. I think I was one of them too back in the day. Sandage cemented himself into the PG spot. He was fearless when driving to the bucket. Much like a goal line football rush attempt. Somebody was going to the ground/floor when all was said and done. ;)

On a different note, what was/is the status of Rod Johnson, Jr?

It's the direction college hoops is going. I think a lot of MM and LM will be recruiting mainly juco players and other transfers. A coach doesn't want to waste his time on a HS kid if there going to leave before they ever even get to develop them.

You also have to remember that the NCAA is allowing a temporary waiver on 1-time transfers, so that players can transfer somewhere else in the same division without having to sit out a season. That has fueled quite a few more transfers this school year than we would have normally seen.

A super athletic kid but at the D1 level you gotta be able to shoot.
