Somewhat of a unique situation to kick off recruiting for next year. I'm going to go ahead and categorize this kid as a 2022 recruit because, while he could play for us this year, it's highly unlikely that would happen at this point, I think.

Anyway, Drake Day is a 6'3" 186lb QB who spent a season with Iowa Western CC before going to Memphis for 2020. Memphis had 4 other QBs ahead of him, so he didn't play in 2020 and it looked like it would be a while until he'd get any chance at seeing the field. He's originally from West Burlington, Iowa, but was actually born in Macomb, and was wanting to come back to somewhere where he could possibly get on the field sooner and where it would be a much closer drive for his family and friends to attend his games. He is already enrolled here for the fall semester and is in talks with the coaching staff to join the team.

Looks like he runs the ball a bit and not afraid to make and take a hit.  Give him some scout team duty.   ;)

Embrace the pace of the race.

Have any of you guys seen any offers go out on Twitter yet? I see a bunch of offers lately from our conference mates but nothing from us yet.

Oh sure, there's been a number of them. I stopped posting every offer here though because the trend now is to send out a ton of offers (like...a hundred or more) and I couldn't keep up on them all. I retweet all the ones I see at the Leatherneck Nation twitter account: https://twitter.com/LeatherneckFans

Here's a list of the ones I saw come through since the start of June:

Cool! I normally just follow their hashtag and couldn’t find their new one! Appreciate it!

Burlington (IA) has a Senior RB and he has run for 1775 yards so far this year. His name is Bryant Williams. Not sure if is a FBS or FCS recruit or maybe he's lower, but being basically a local kid, I would hope WIU has least checked in on him. On his Twitter it doesn't look like any WIU coaches are following him so it wouldn't seem likely. Anyway just thought I would mention him

Williams was offered a Walk-on opportunity at Iowa

I see Will McElvain, former QB at UNI, announced on his twitter he was offered by WIU. Also I noticed a guy who his bio said he is a graduate assistant at Buffalo retweeted his tweet. So I wonder if he is in line to become an assistant coach at WIU. Also several assistant coaches from this past season liked the tweet.

FYI, McElvain shows he committed to Central Arkansas, but looks like schools besides WIU, are still offering him.

Yeah, I don’t think he signed in the early signing period so he could technically flip.
