Southern Utah has "parted ways" with their HC as well. I wouldn't normally mention it, but Southern Utah is actually the next team we'll play at Hanson Field. We're currently scheduled to host the Thunderbirds (who will be new members of the WAC) on September 17, 2022 (after playing at UT-Martin to open the season and at Minnesota for our FBS game the first two weeks).

And it sounds like they already have his replacement...UNH Associate HC/QB Coach Ricky Santos.
Santos previously stepped into the acting head coach role for the program back in 2019 when McDonnell had to take a leave of absence for health-related reasons. McDonnell stepped back into the head coaching role in March of 2020.  As the interim head coach, Santos led the program to a 6-5 mark, including an undefeated 5-0 mark at home.A former record-setting quarterback for the program, Santos' #2 from his playing days is one of just four numbers that the football program has retired. He was a four-year starter with a career record of 37-24, threw for over 13,000 yards and had 123 touchdowns through the air. In 2006, Santos won the Walter Payton Award given to the top player at the FCS level.Outside of his time on staff with McDonnell, Santos also spent three seasons coaching the quarterbacks in the Ivy League at Columbia (FCS - NY).

Seems like a "buyers market" with coaching, I think that list indicated over 500 people moving a job as the head coach or associate to a program.

Not FCS, but I thought it worth a mention here.
Oregon Co-Defensive Coordinator Ken Wilson is set to be hired as the new HC at Nevada. Wilson spent 1989-1996 and 2006-2012 coaching at Nevada at various positions, was LB coach at Washington State from 13-18, LB coach at Oregon from 19-20, then Co-DC at Oregon in 2021.

Why is that significant for anyone in this area?

Ken Wilson's hometown is Virginia, IL...population 1600, on the highway between Macomb and Springfield. He also attended and played football at North Central College in Naperville.
