What was Akron's defense like? First three Google hits:

Avg 125 out of 130 FBS teams
(ETA: To be fair, their offense avg 111, so you can play 'the chicken or the egg' with that team)

Well, I am pretty sure we can't do any worse defensively than we did last year. Every game was primarily over by halftime to actually make our defensive stats look ever better than they should have.L'Étranger wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:17 pm What was Akron's defense like? First three Google hits:

Plus his defense was very good at Chattanooga.Necks2003 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:22 pmWell, I am pretty sure we can't do any worse defensively than we did last year. We'll have to agree to disagree there, and again Chicken or the Egg. Did our one-dimensional offense contribute to a higher % of 3 & Out, thereby grinding down the D, or was the D fully capable of %%$#@ing up on their own?Necks2003 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:22 pmWell, I am pretty sure we can't do any worse defensively than we did last year. BUT to say "every game" is a bit much. E Wash, whoever we went to 2 OT with, and I think one of the other 2 #7 teams, (if not more) all went to the wire. THEN we screwed the pooch at the end.
That's true. Now, he did only coach the LBs for 1 year (2017), then was DC for 1 year (2018), before becoming DC for Akron, but they did have a somewhat decent defense when he was there.
Here's his bio from Akron's athletics site: https://gozips.com/sports/football/rost ... feeney/726
And here's the stats from Chattanooga in 2018 for you to peruse:

This is really a nice addition to our staff. He’s from Ft. Wayne, played at Valpo which gives us a recruiting connection in Indiana.leatherneckcountry wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 10:44 pm Quinn Schafer is now in the directory he was the QB coach at U INDY but also looks like he was on Staff at Northern State with Myers.

I'm very interested to see who we bring in as our line coaches i'm guessing curry will serve as the DLine coach . Outside of the DC position I think the line coaches will be Myers most important hires. I don't feel like we've had a good Oline coach since AJ left.
