Forgot to post this earlier, but here's what was happening this weekend in area FBS teams and what'll be going on next weekend:

Illinois defeated Northwestern, 41-3
Minnesota beat Wisconsin, 23-16
Purdue took down Indiana, 30-16
On Friday night, Nebraska beat Iowa, 24-17
#4 TCU beat Iowa State, 62-14
Also Friday night, Missouri beat Arkansas, 29-27
Akron defeated Northern Illinois, 44-12
Last Tuesday, Miami (OH) beat Ball State, 18-17
#6 Southern California beat #15 Notre Dame, 38-27

Next weekend, it looks like the only team in our region that will be playing will be:
7 PM - Purdue (8-4) at Michigan (12-0) at the Big 10 Championship Game - FOX
Rankings aren't out yet, but Michigan will be either #1 or #2.

Another area team still playing is Truman State.

Truman State will be playing Tiffin University (Ohio) on Saturday (Dec 3) in the America's Crossroads Bowl in Hobart, Indiana.

Aurora University and North Central College (Naperville) are still alive in the NCAA Division 3 Playoffs.

Ah, yup, forgot about DII and DIII.

In DII, the closest any nearby teams got was Northwest Missouri State losing to #1 Grand Valley State, 13-8 today.

In the DIII playoffs, there's a few localish teams still playing next Saturday:
Aurora University (IL) at Wartburg College (IA)
Ithaca College (NY) at North Central College (IL)

Valpo has added a game this weekend...
New Mexico State, which had its originally scheduled Saturday 10/22 home game against San Jose State cancelled as a result of the unexpected death of a SJSU player, finally was able to find a replacement opponent for that game. They will host PFL member Valparaiso on Saturday 12/3. San Jose State and other DI-A/FBS and DI-AA/FCS schools had passed on playing NMSU, which is 5-6 and seeking both bowl eligibility and a proper send-off for its senior players. New Mexico State will NOT automatically become bowl eligible should they beat Valparaiso due to the fact they already have one DI-AA/FCS win this season (vs Lamar). However, they are seeking an eligibility waiver to participate in a bowl game with a 6-6 record and two DI-AA/FCS wins (and were already seeking it with a 5-6 record and one DI-AA/FCS win). Currently 79 of the 82 available DI-A/FBS bowl slots are accounted for, and three other teams (5-6 Buffalo if they beat Akron, 6-6 Appalachian State with two DI-AA/FCS wins, and 5-6 Army with two DI-AA/FCS wins and one game remaining against Navy) besides the NMSU Aggies may yet still earn or be granted bowl eligibility.

For Valparaiso, the game provides a unique opportunity for the Beacons to play a game in December. Valpo has never appeared in the DI-AA/FCS playoffs since moving up to the classification and joining the Pioneer Football League in 1993.
New Mexico State, who is our season opening opponent next year, is led by a HC that many around here are rather familiar with...former SIU, NIU, and Minnesota HC Jerry Kill: https://nmstatesports.com/sports/footba ... -kill/3215
