From my math WIU needs to win the series against Oral Roberts. And Northern Colorado needs to win the series against Omaha. It's a lot to ask for, but I'm dreaming of that conference tournament. I think I'm going to try and attend my first baseball game this week.
Also, the team has improved their record from last year.
And Nick Mitchell is having an INCREDIBLE season.

Looks like the Baseball HC job has been posted: https://wiu.interviewexchange.com/jobof ... BID=162389

Sheriff was the interim HC anyway, so this wasn't a surprise.

I find it interesting that we’re getting commits and we don’t even know who the coach is going to be.

I doubt this is the case, but I think it'd be funny if we're getting recruits now solely on the fact that they'll be playing spring away games in Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, eastern Missouri, and central/southern Illinois instead of such warm-weather hotspots as Fargo, Omaha, St. Paul MN, Brookings SD, and Greely CO. Got to imagine the weather is usually going to be a bit better for spring baseball at OVC locations than Summit League locations.

I will go out on a limb and say the OVC has had more baseball players drafted by MLB teams than the Summit.  On what basis you ask?  They put it in their record book (pages 26 and 27).  Summit folks dont bother or at least I cant find it.  ORU has had a few over the years.

ORU https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content ... 4/drafted/

WIU https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content ... 4/drafted/

Note: That Bob Watson entry for WIU between the Reuschel boys has to be a mistake.

One recent WIU draftee was Adam McGinnis in 2017 who got a look in the White Sox organization.  He is currently an assistant at Heartland JC and having a damn good year over there (50-5 record).

Mitchell is very good, not sure what his chances of being drafted are or if is eligible to be drafted, but if he doesn't get drafted i wonder if he will be back or if he will enter the portal and try to go somewhere bigger.

Yeah that’s the biggest reason I figured that the OVC would be better in baseball than the summit.

The calculator says all we have to do is win one more game than Omaha wins this weekend to make the tournament.
Let the scoreboard watching begin.  I am going to try and catch the game tomorrow in person.

Northern Colorado dispatched Omaha via the 10 run rule today.  So  lets win this one and control our own destiny this weekend.
