News tidbit about WIU's great running back, Herb Donaldson:

SD State's running back Zach Zenner took over the Missouri Valley Football Conference career rushing record that had been held by Western's Herb Donaldson. SDSU topped Cal Poly 44-18 on Saturday. In that game, Zenner carried the ball 30 times for 193 yards and a touchdown. Zenner now has 4,825 career rushing yards, passing the previous MVFC record of 4,746 yards set by Donaldson from 2005-08.

The Leathernecks had everyone's attention for the first half at Wisconsin. I was checking the score during the game...sounds like you have some weapons again this season. Best of luck through November 14. Hope to see some Purple and Gold November 15 in Brookings.

That's pretty amazing. Congrats to him on the great career so far.

Records were made to be broken (although I'd love to see us bring in someone who could challenge that in the next year or so ;)
At one point, most of the season conference rushing records were held by Aaron Stecker, although he only played a couple of years for us after transferring from Wisconsin, so he never really had a shot at the career numbers. Looks like the only record we still have for rushing is the conference record for yards in a game for Donaldson's performance in '06 against Indiana State (328 yards).

I doubt Zach will get enough to break AP's record of 6,559 in a career (that's the Georgia Southern/Chi Bears AP, not the Oklahoma/MN Vikings AP), but he'll definitely get himself into the list of the top rushers in FCS history by the end of it (see page 14 for the top rushing performances for games, seasons, careers, etc.) It looks like with his current total of 4,825, he's taken the #25 spot, and should jump up at least another three spots after one more game.

Just for fun, I created a tag cloud from that FCS record book. Sometimes it is nice to be a directional.

Alright folks, now you know what to name your kids and where to send them to school. That is all the help I am giving you. ;)
