Board of Trustees members have made it clear that the administration faces some difficult budget decisions in the coming months.

“The board has studied, we’ve read, and we’ve been vocal about our financial results for the last three years, and it’s been obvious that our situation will become more challenged,” said Chairperson Carin Stutz at the beginning of the board’s March 22 meeting.

“We are at that point now: decisions must be made.”

I just saw WIU did the typical WIU move and has made her a permanent president. Time to get the board out of here

It's not like we've had great luck with national searches though. I feel like the quality of candidates we're getting for those have been pretty weak over the past half decade or so and most of them aren't even here any more.

She's a hell of a lot better than the last 2 we had under national searches.

Finally, someone with the wherewithall to make tough decisions to keep the WIU ship alfloat.

I agree. And she knows the University.

A national search would take months, and then once they're hired, probably another six months before the new president really got a handle on things here. We don't have the time to spend another year floundering around (and then get someone who might be here for a year and then leave).

At this point we just gotta hope for the best I have no questions about how much she cares about the university it’s just we’re technically on president number 5 since I’ve been here if you count Martin and I’m just worried if this doesn’t work there may not be a next. WIU dropped the ball when they failed to upgrade facilities when at the peak
