We shoot the 3 well. They defend the 3 well, amongst other things.

His predecessor not exactly lighting things up over in the WAC either at 3-10, 8th place in a 9 team conference. Good news for Rob Jeter is that In the WAC all teams go to the conference tournament, as it should be when the tournament is held in Vegas. Also interesting, our old home in the Summit League is now letting all teams into tournament. Let me go on the record to say the OVC format sucks. Double Byes? Are you kidding me? I am seriously considering going back to Sioux Falls this year. The Dakotans put on a show much much better than the one in Evansville.ST_Lawson wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 8:19 am Well, not too surprising consindering the long losing streak, but I believe we are out of the OVC tournament now. At 4-13, the best we can get to is 7-13 and the #8 team currently is UT Martin at 8-10, so the worst they can do is 8-12. Pretty disappointing considering how well we did last year (13-5 in the conference and 1-1 in the OVC tournament). Hopefully Coach Boudreau can get us back in the tournament next year. If not, then I'm thinking his seat might be getting rather warm.
Idk about all teams...we've got 11 in the OVC, which makes for a bit of an awkward bracket, but taking the top 10 would be nice.sealhall74 wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 9:24 am His predecessor not exactly lighting things up over in the WAC either at 3-10, 8th place in a 9 team conference. Yep, 11 team bracket is easy and no team gets an automatic double bye advance to semis.ST_Lawson wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:07 amIdk about all teams...we've got 11 in the OVC, which makes for a bit of an awkward bracket, but taking the top 10 would be nice.sealhall74 wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 9:24 am His predecessor not exactly lighting things up over in the WAC either at 3-10, 8th place in a 9 team conference. Have #8 and #9 play each other with the winner taking on #1, and have #10 and #7 play each other with the winner taking on #2.
Like this: https://www.printyourbrackets.com/pdfbr ... umbers.pdf
The two teams in the championship game have to play 3 games if they were in the top 6 and 4 games if they were 7-10.
That's pretty much what the Summit League does, except they have #8 vs #9 with the winner playing #1, since they only have 9 teams currently.
For comparison, the MVC's 12 teams take all 12 to "Arch Madness", where #1-4 get a first-round bye and play the winners of the #5-#12.
Our football friends down at the Big South have 9 teams and do the same thing the Summit League does, #8 and #9 winner plays #1, then it's a regular 8-team bracket.
The Horizon League has 11 teams (like the OVC) that all play in an interesting bracket. #6-#11 pair up as usual (6 vs 11, 7 vs 10, 8 vs 9), then in the second round #1 plays the lowest remaining seed, #2 plays the second-lowest, #3 plays the highest remaining, and #4 plays #5: https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/ ... July_1.pdf
They also have the first two rounds at the highest seed's campus location.
Looking at the current OVC standings and applying them to the Horizon League bracket would give us the following:
#11 Southern Indiana at #6 Morehead State
#10 Western Illinois at #7 TN Tech
#9 Eastern Illinois at #8 UT Martin
And in the second round, the lowest remaining seed plays at #1 SEMO, the second-lowest plays at #2 SIUE, and the highest remaining seed plays at #3 Little Rock. Also #5 Lindenwood would play at #4 Tennessee State.
I agree Scott... crazy since we were voted as the conference favorite this season... ughh another year of waiting for our NCAA tournament debutST_Lawson wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 8:19 am Well, not too surprising consindering the long losing streak, but I believe we are out of the OVC tournament now. I don't think we were the conference favorite. I thought we were picked 2nd, but maybe there was some preseason polls that had us the favorite. The bad thing is I think we can probably beat any team in the conference but also can lose to any team. I think Coach has a couple years before his seat gets hot unless next year they are worse than this year, but I don't see that. I think he learned a lot this year from some of the comments he has made on the post game shows. Will be interesting to see who leaves and who stays.4EverPurple&Gold wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 4:13 pmI agree Scott... crazy since we were voted as the conference favorite this season... ughh another year of waiting for our NCAA tournament debutST_Lawson wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 8:19 am Well, not too surprising consindering the long losing streak, but I believe we are out of the OVC tournament now. Thinking about who would be leaving or staying, any news on who may utilize the updated NCAA eligibility rules? If I am understand the court ruling correctly, the JUCO years don't go against how many years of eligibility athletes have anymore? Knowing how many of our players started their careers at that level, I imagine several could do that if they want.meganeck wrote: Sat Feb 22, 2025 10:09 amI don't think we were the conference favorite.
