The Leatherneck Men's Soccer team won their first game in the conference tournament against Oral Roberts, after having the game pushed back a day and then postponed by an hour (I think) due to extreme cold.
They got up early 1-0 10 minutes into the game, then got a second score late in the game. ORU then pulled out a goal right at the end but didn't have enough to overcome the 2-0 lead.
Final score of 2-1.

In the other game in the bracket, Denver defeated IPFW by a score of 3-0.

The Leathernecks will face Denver in the championship match on Sunday at 2 PM (Central). I heard from someone who follows the soccer team closely that the championship match is supposed to be shown live on ESPN3.

Doesn't look like the Final is going to be on ESPN3 on Sunday. ESPN3 may have pulled the coverage due the schedule change with the tournament being pushed back a day.

The championship match was Denver vs Western. Denver won 3-1.

Following the match, seniors Yves Dietrich, Charlie Bales, and Mario Alvarez were named to The Summit League All-Tournament Team. With the loss, Western concludes its season with a record of 9-7-3 (3-2-1).

Western received a red card at the 6:03 mark forcing them to play with 10 men for the rest of the match.

Senior captain Charlie Bales converted his fifth penalty kick of the year, and making the score 2-1, Western trailing at the 40 minute mark.

Attendance for the game at Denver was 102.

Just a reminder, Western's match against Denver is coming up at 7 PM.
Right now Oral Roberts just tied it up 1-1 against Omaha with about 19 minutes left.

Also, the grounds crew did a great job clearing away all the snow that they got out there recently (the same front that came through the midwest yesterday afternoon and evening with storms, rain, crazy wind, and occasional tornadoes): http://www.denverpioneers.com/sports/at ... 15aaa.html

First match went late, tied into...overtime? (is that what they call it in soccer) when Oral Roberts won with about 5 minutes left in 2nd OT.

WIU vs Denver will start shortly
