How about 'dem Bulldogs (UM-Duluth)

So, we've had Coach Nielson doing his thing here for two years now. I was curious how UM-Duluth was faring without him at the helm.
Well, last season they went 10-1 in the regular season, losing only to then #2 ranked MN State-Mankato, then won their first round playoff game and lost their second round game.
This season....11-0 regular season, so far 1-0 in the playoffs. They take on Ouachita Baptist University from Arkadelphia, AR in the second round on Saturday: http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/football/d2/

So, they seem to be doing just fine.

Two best teams in their 16 team conference (UM-Duluth and MS-Mankato) would meet in quarters if both teams win this week. They never played each other this year. That would be good one if it happens.

How do you measure "goodness" of a coach if you exclude his won-loss record?

1) How many of his coaches does he mentor to head coaching positions

2) How well does his former team do after he leaves a winning program and moves on

Bulldogs win in OT 48-45. Caught the last quarter on radio. One hell of a back and forth affair.

Minnesota State also won in OT 24-21 so the matchup between the two will happen next week in Mankato.
