I noticed that I haven't seen any announcement about the CC/mid-year transfers. Usually that would have been done a couple of weeks ago. Where's our (quickly becoming) usual crop of guys from the Phoenix area CCs?

Couple of our new guys also come by way of IMG Academy (LB Brody Crossin originally from Valparaiso, IN and QB Noah Shanklin originally from Savannah, GA). It's essentially a prep school specifically for kids going into athletics at the collegiate level. They have a pretty impressive list of football alumni: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_I ... i#Football and their football academy is currently run/coached by former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL QB, Chris Weinke.

I had not heard anything about this Jack Beneventi, but appears to be an awesome pick up after reviewing his ESPN recruitment page. Looks like he was committed to Iowa and they let him go? Maybe he had an injury or something I am not sure, but there is a lot of big time offers that we competed with on this one.

Yea, he was mentioned over in the regular recruiting post: http://www.leathernecknation.net/forum/ ... t=60#p3653
Best guess was that Iowa pulled his offer to open up a scholarship for Nick Wilson (OLB from West Des Moines, IA) who had been interested in Western: http://www.leathernecknation.net/forum/ ... t=10#p2114

Beneventi had offers from Illinois, Iowa (until they apparently pulled it), Louisville, UMass, Notre Dame, and Western Michigan. Likely most of those were only partial scholarship offers though and Beneventi thought he'd get a better shot at starting sooner with Western. Redshirt in 2015, backup Norvell in 2016, and then he can start for 3 years...if he ends up being "our guy".

Here is an article talking about his scholarship getting pulled. http://www.blackheartgoldpants.com/cari ... commitment . I still think our guy will be last years recruit Sean McGuire, though it is great having the competition and this kid has the size to be something special, just hopefully he has the work ethic and the pulling of his scholarship makes him work hard.

ST, your recruit map had me jumping out of my skin. I click on Max Norris and see 4.4 stars. What exactly is that 4.4?

I am going to stick with my earlier words about Max. He runs north and south like a guy named Zenner. Get in his way, he will punish you.

Sorry, the "stars" listed there are from the reviews from the school's google+ page (in this case: https://plus.google.com/117057996198399 ... bout?hl=en)
Essentially, Center Grove High School...where Max goes to school...has an average 4.4 rating from 5 people. It has nothing to do with the student-athlete.
This is because I put the "pins" for each recruit at the location of their school (or in the case of the couple of guys who were at IMG Academy, at their hometowns).

EDIT - removed the school info to prevent confusion. Now you should just see their postion, name, and link to their bio on GoLeathernecks.com
