So it looks like the projected schedule is correct: https://goleathernecks.com/news/2023/3/ ... edule.aspx
And they've announced the events being held at the various home games.

9/9 - vs Illinois State (Mega Reunion; Senior Day) - that'll be nice having a home game that early in the season...especially against an opponent that should have a pretty decent crowd.
9/16 - vs Lindenwood (Family Day BBQ Competition) - if we're a bit better than last year, this game should be winnable. Lindenwood was 7-3 last year, but played a 3 non-DI teams and a couple of pretty bad teams (EIU, Murray State) so their SoS was 100th out of 130 FCS teams last year.
10/14 - vs Missouri State (Homecoming) - could be competitive for us...good crowd, MSU was down last year (5-6) and Petrino is now the OC at Texas A&M
10/28 - vs Southern Illinois (Protect & Serve Recognition Day)
We also, unfortunately, have a home game on the last weekend (11/18 vs South Dakota), which will likely draw about 200 people.

I removed the future conference games from the future schedules post at the beginning of this thread. Left the currently scheduled OVC games, although it'll be interesting to see how those work out since the majority of our FCS OOC games over the next few years are against OVC teams. So those will become conference games. I wonder if they'll leave them scheduled as-is so there's less disruption to other teams schedules too, then work in the remaining teams around those.

Sounds like Bubb has been very proacitve with discussions with ILSU and SIU to get some H&H series games scheduled with them: https://prairiestatepigskin.com/2023/06 ... ence-foes/

We might miss a couple of years since some schools have much of their non-conference schedule set years down the road already, but hopefully games against our relatively "nearby" former MVFC mates will be a regular occurrance.

Intra-state public college matchups should be mandated by the state legislature IMHO.

I just saw this popping up regarding Lindenwood and SEMO: https://lindenwoodlions.com/news/2023/9 ... valry.aspx

What do you guys think about trying to have Jimmy John's sponsor a rivalry trophy between us and EIU?
For those that don't know, Jimmy John's was founded in 1983 in Charleston, IL, across the street from EIU. The second Jimmy John's location was opened in Macomb in 1986 on West Jackson street (the same location that the current JJ's is, although there was a span in there when they had left Macomb).

I think it is a great idea. I would axe the axe trophy that is used just for basketball now and make the new one an all sports traveling trophy.  Why all sports you ask?  Two of anything muddies the waters and devalues each one.  Make the damn thing so valuable you got students plotting ways to steal it back in the wee hours of the night.

That’s a great idea!  I wonder if the AD’s for both schools are aware of that?

First thought for trophy design.  I think I would go with the famed pickle bucket but I am  sure someone can do better.
Definitely no axe trophy for football.  History not good.

BTW, my JJ order is always the same.  The #5 Vito.  Plus a couple of the 50 cent day olds loaves for snacking.

Pickle bucket for the base, topped with a sub that is shaped like a football.
Purdue and Indiana have the "Old Oaken Bucket"...we can have the "Pickle Bucket".
