I'm pretty sure that all of these recent guys are "preferred walk-ons" which means they have a spot on the team when camp starts, but no scholarship at this point. As mentioned before, they can earn a scholarship if they do well and there is one available (those are the "scholarship reveal" videos that you see pop up sometimes).

sounds like a pretty big game that Mike Viti will be participating in.

I just read an article that referenced it the Big33 the other day. Mets new second baseman Neil Walker was select to play for PA and was slated to play CB opposite Revis. He was told he'd be covering Ted Ginn Jr, but game was played after he was drafted by the Pirates and didn't play.

Thought it was pretty cool seeing a new member of the necks playing in a big game with a talented history.
