During test and development, I will be prototyping the new app by using sqlite instead of mysql for the database. I see that Dreamhost makes sqlite available on all of their servers so it could be a possibility for production as well if we dont need a full-blown database server. Sqlite is blazingly fast but not generally used for apps with a lot of concurrent users.
We can give that a shot. I don't have any experience with sqlite (only used mysql myself), but I should be able to get it set up and give you access to it, I would imagine.

Ok, I'll look into switching over at some point. Says that it might take a little bit to do and the site would be down, so I'd want to do it when there's a slow time.
According to Dreamhost, they migrate things over, then switch the domain, so there's little to no downtime. I went ahead and requested the upgrade to the lowest level of VPS. I'll keep an eye on our disk and RAM usage for a while and see if we come anywhere close to needing to move up or not.

Ok, well, that didn't take long at all. I didn't notice any downtime myself, how about anyone else? We're now completely moved over to VPS. Currently using 4.4 of our 30 GB (14.7%) and are sitting at about 5% RAM usage. I'll keep monitoring things though, looking for spikes and stuff.

Personally, the site does feel maybe a little bit "snappier", but I could be influenced by knowing that we've moved to the SSD.
Seal, I'll get you login credentials and send them to you so you can start working on whatever you'd like to work on in the system. Let me know if it's set up ok for you once you get a chance to look around.

Put a SSD drive in a laptop and you will be amazed. My Windows 10 boot time went from about 45 seconds down to 5 seconds.

I dont think it matters from my perspective, but are we on a Linux host or a Windows host?

Apache on Linux (standard LAMP setup for the web). We can switch the http server to Nginx if we had some reason to need to do so, but I'm more familiar with LAMP than anything else at this point.

Oh yea, I'm well aware of the speed difference, just didn't know how well that would translate to serving data online. All 3 of my PCs at home have SSDs in them, with my primary desktop running a Samsung 960 EVO NVMe M.2 stick straight on the mobo as the primary drive. Eventually I want to get another one (my mobo has two M.2 slots on it) and run them together in RAID 0 (I have a few other larger drives and am VERY diligent about backups, so I'm not worried about redundancy). Would end up being an insanely fast 500GB drive for my primary.

Udemy has some nice online courses on Nodejs, Angularjs, etc. I have signed up for three related to Nodejs development @ $10 each. Hard to beat that if you have some time to learn.

With two kids in grade school, that's the big issue for me. I might be able to swing it at work if I have done spare time though. It's somewhat work-related.

I have also been getting that same message for about a week. I let Scott know about it.
