Grinnell College has announced that it was canceling competition for sports in its Fall Term 1 schedule. That means no football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis, women's golf, and men's and women's cross country.

Grinnell plays in the Midwest Conference--same as Monmouth College.

The Ivy League was the first Division I conference to cancel its post-season basketball tournament due to coronavirus in March. Now it may be the first one to move football to the spring as well.

The conference released a statement that a decision on fall sports will be made in a week, but indications are they will not be held in the fall. Instead a seven-game football season of conference-only games will be played in the spring.

No decision has been made about winter or spring Ivy League sports or whether fall sports could be played in the spring of 2021.
