SEMO beats non-conference rival SIU, 44-26

Also forgot to mention the other teams we play this year and what they're up to this weekend:
Colorado State takes on in-state rival Colorado at 9 PM Friday night (8/30) on ESPN
Montana State plays at FBS Texas Tech at 3 PM on Saturday (8/31) afternoon on Fox Sports Go (and probably their local regional sports network)
Tennessee Tech hosts Samford (0-1) at 6 PM on Saturday (8/31) evening on ESPN+

Woof...bad night for the MVFC. In addition to us losing our game and SIU going down...

Missouri State lost to Northern Arizona, 37-23
and South Dakota State very nearly knocked off FBS Minnesota, falling 28-21. Jackrabbits were up 21-19 until around 5 1/2 minutes left in the game. Fumble by their young QB (starting his first college game) gave the Gophers great field position setting up that last TD.

That attendance number of 10,000+ reported by UNA is bogus. Looked more like maybe 5,000. That would have made our former A.D. TVA proud

FBS Kansas beats Indiana State, 24-17
INSU had the lead late in the 4th quarter, up 17-16 until Kansas got a TD with 2:20 left in the game to go ahead.

#21 Ranked FBS Iowa State holds on to beat Northern Iowa, 29-26 in 3 OTs
An ISU fumble in the 3rd OT nearly (and quite possibly should have) given UNI the win, but recovery was awarded to Iowa State and they were able to punch it in for a TD against UNI's FG.

Oh, dear. Just from what I'm seeing on ESPN+, looks like the other Valley teams are playing head and shoulders above our first game. I realize we're a younger team under a new QB, but I really hope they are able to make adjustments. If not, this season could be a tough growing year. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, from what I've seen so far...we should be ok against SIU and MSU...but otherwise...maybe 8th place is just about right.
