Still holding out hope we can knock out a few wins this year, but think the goal should be getting the younger players reps.  Not only does it get them better, but a taste of game action should hopefully keep them here to come back for more next year.  Get them all 4 games of action and start them if you can.

Specifically talking about the young offensive lineman we have.  Not sure if Gorter was hurt or if we were just pulling him to keep under 4 games, but we should be getting all the FR OL starts down the stretch.  Preferably working them in on some sort of rotational starts and then having them start as a unit against ISUb.  Gorter has 1 game left to burn, so if healthy, save him until that game and then give Newcomer the start at C, Hackaday or move Selle back to OL start other G, Alawadi RT and Fugar LT.  Fugar is listed as So, but should be a R-Fr with 3 more years.

Could also throw in Retter, Levasa and Gatz who will likely take redshirts and have 3 left.

Not saying these guys will all develop into starters or even effective lineman, but we need consistency and potentially developing a unit that can play together for 3 to 4 years would be huge.  Might even throw Carson Clark in to start at QB and see what we have.  Though pretty excited about Whitaker, if we can keep him (top team in the state and he's crushing it).

We were a good team and tanked downed the stretch in 2018, but our last really good year was 2017.  Awesome role players, but it was all due to our OL.  We had solid class of OL come up together; 3 year starter Judd at Center, 3 year starter Baldus at LT, 3 1/2 year starter Torgy at RT, 4 year contributor Detweiler with starts throughout and then Drew Wagner who was younger but a 2 year starter at that point.  The chemistry was huge and we were a playoff team 2 of the 3 years they were together.  Should have been 3, but they tanked some close ones in 2016.

Agree, dont waste the 4 games with just token appearances, give them solid playing time.  If you are not going to do that, then dont waste the time on the field at all this year.  Get a head start on the others in conference and begin the offseason weight work sooner rather than later.  We need the lines to be a positive factor in the years to come.  I am anxious to see what the RB Williams III might bring to the table in the future.

I think 2, maybe 3, remaining games are winnable (YSU, ISUb and MSU).  MSU was way overrated this year.  Wish we had the Yotes on the schedule too cause they too are not very good this year.

I agree! I think they would be a little conservative with Hackaday still working his way back and Selle will be moved back to OL. Let's give them a taste and see what they can do.
