Off campus shooting cancels Athletic events

Due to the circumstances involving an off-campus incident in Macomb overnight, Director of Athletics Paul A. Bubb has announced out of respect for the victims and their families, all Leatherneck athletic activities for Saturday March, 25 and Sunday, March 26 have been postponed including:

Baseball vs. St. Thomas, Saturday March 25 and Sunday, March 26.
Softball vs. South Dakota State, Saturday March 25 and Sunday, March 26.
Tennis vs. Denver, March 25.
Women's soccer exhibition at Valparaiso, Saturday, March 25.
Men's soccer at Southeastern Community College, Saturday March 25.

"After meeting with coaches and the teams, we will announce when we will resume competition," Bubb said. "Thank you for your understanding and your thoughts and prayers for all involved."

After consultation with Summit League officials, information regarding rescheduling will be announced at a later date.

The University Counseling Center will be open for walk-ins or appointments for support services from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today. Students can call (309) 298-2453.

The Office of Public Safety suggests everyone be vigilant about being aware of their surroundings. Individuals with information should call 9-1-1 immediately or contact Macomb Area Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS or (309) 836-2222.
