Not much to cheer about in this game. South Dakota State wins 87-50.
The Western cheerleaders, dance line, Rocky, and the Pep Band got a lot of camera time.

Mo and Billy are dofferent in lots of ways. But they share one thing in common - they are slow as molasses getting to post-game radio interview after a tough loss.

Billy needs to have a big year next year.
Jabari and GC will be juniors and Fuller will be a senior. Have to get some size in town.
Nate Wells from Bradley and Max Biefeldt from Michigan are both going to graduate and have a year of eligibility left. They are both centers. To me that would be a no brainer for one of those guys to move down a level and be able to play 30-35 minutes a game and make a team better.
I don't know what else the answer is but we desperately need some quality big men or tmw GC / Sandifer era will be a huge bust.

It will be interesting to see how the next few weeks shake out. I could be wrong, but I believe Wright only had a 1 year contract. The new scheme is definitely more entertaining to watch when they are playing well, but having 2 less wins than last year, including more home games this season, shows the team still has some serious strides to make. I hope they sign him to a multiple year commitment. It seems he is much more of a recruiter than we have previously had. Hopefully the players are all truly ALL IN as well and dont make any departures. We are still a very young team. Hopefully next year with the heart of the team turning to juniors, these experiences turns to wins as the group begins to become the upper classman. A true big man in the next upcoming class would be nice as well. But decent bigs in the summit league are generally tough to come by.

Big men in the Summit are more broad and athletic than long. I seriously have to question the effectiveness of our strength and conditioning program.

Embarrassing. Like said before, this team regressed throughout the season. Showed absolutely no improvement. At all. Zip. Zero. Nada.
I completely forgot about the one year contract. Not a very good showing if it was a "prove it" deal.

It's hard, but this team needs our patience. The went from a slow, deliberate, playing style to a much more up-tempo game, one they never expected to see when they were recruited. Coach didn't get to recruit from the cream, coming in late to the game, only being able to recoup some of the less quality he'd see while an assistant the year before. I suspect there will be a long of pressure on the team over the summer to really work on building the bodies they need to fit a different kind of basketball. Plus, we'll hopefully be able to add some good recruits. But it's going to take time. No way do you say goodbye to a coach after only one year, a year that brought some excitement to the game style. True, we may have faded at the end, but let's not through the team under the bus.

It is so easy to place all of the blame on Coach Wright when we easily forget what Coach Mo left behind. How many players for this season were signed or even recruited when Mo left? So Coach Wright had to recruit a significant amount of players in a short amount of time. Please let me know what really decent player can you find in April to begin school in August. Let us not also forget that two players were down before the season began, Mike and Tate went down. We were playing with seven players! Why do you think they offer multiple year contracts for coaches? Patience is the key!

I think they will sign him to a multiple year contract, but I have not seen much in the recruiting side from him that has made me any more confident that a whole year will help bring in better recruits. So far what we have on our board is kinda sub par for a DI team and I have not seen any difference makers show interest in WIU. It looks like it could be another down year on the recruiting unless one of the players is a huge surprise.
