Illinois State won the game 33-16 by scoring 2 TD's in the last 4 minutes of the game.
Only 9 first downs for Western. And only 57 rushing yards. 11 Western penalties.
Attendance at Illinois State = 8,516.

God, what a painful lose. We should have won that game like we should have won at Montana State. We have the talent to play with every team we've played so far this year. I hope we can clean up the penalties for next week because if we don't NDSU will put mad points on the board with all those free yards.

PAT blocked, 3 point swing.
Tate just getting tripped up on 71 yarder, 4 points difference.
Ratkovich drop, 7 point swing and yes we could still have f'd up later in the drive, but changed the drive and outcome.
They have a great RB, but needed to do a better job tackling. Needed to catch a few more close balls and Sean needed to throw a few better balls.
Another game we could have won.
Didn't see Tate late and that changes our offense. Hope he's ok. Gaston went down on what looked like the typical ACL/MCL injury.
Tough road ahead, but this team and coaches step it up and this they can win any week.

All of it is painful.
a 5 star recuit will be pretty much awesome wherever he goes. (meh some get the goods some don't)
a 3 star athlete can preform like a 5 star when:
Coach, QB, Conference, and school are right.
We have a lot of talent and not a lot of pass rush protection or ability to run simple dives for 4 yards. Every team on Gods Earth knows that we cant open a crease .
Which is sad, McShane is one of the top 5 running backs to ever come through this program.
How much different is McShane than Tarik Cohen? McShane is an Inch taller and built as good or better. the Line hard to protect but, we have a lot of flags thrown this year for holding. I mean either own the guy or let him fall off, the Refs know we are going to hold. Period.

How much of this loss does Elliot own?

Pat Fitzgerald at age 31 was the youngest coach to take the helm at a D-I program (BIG, affiliated and top 5 academically)
So wow. A president has been set. Maybe It's not the best look to wear a ball cap and an extra large windbreaker as your image to the team as the boss.

1. Home safe, watching the 4th quarter of SIU at YSU now (looks like neither team actually wants to win). Pouring rain all the way down but stopped before the game started. Rain held off pretty much the entire game and all the way home too, which was nice.
2. Letsgonecks is dead-on with all his points. Shot ourselves in the foot a few times and I feel like the defense just got too worn down and ran out of energy near the end. Just a couple of things go the other way and we win the game.
3. Gaston was on crutches in street clothes in the second half. Beyond that I don't know much of anything. Hopefully it's just a sprain, but who knows.
4. We have that much trouble with ISU's RB, NDSU's Bruce Anderson is going to tear us apart. Need to work on some things before next week. Maybe we'll get lucky and the Bison will have a "let-down".

From watching on TV, 3 things stick out that need to be fixed
1) QB is laser focused on who he wants to through the ball to, might as well just send out 1 receiver
2) RB needs to be running the ball more, the best part of our offense
3) Play calling needs to focus on what works, and that would be the RB, not the QB, and quit with the gimmick. Reverse where runner got the ball ~12 yds behind the line of scrimmage was lucky to get back to the line of scrimmage, should have been tackled for 8yr loss
