I have some info, though my knowledge of building projects like this is a little more lacking than the knowledge of bridges and civil work.

Certainly not a good omen if bids came in 10% over expectations. Cutting classrooms reduces the academic value; making the main theater smaller reduces the entertainment value. Will be interesting to see what choices they recommend cutting for the hopeful 2015 Fall rebid. I would think those choices will force a look at prioritizing the purposes of the facility.

They only had one bid the other two were late they easily could of only been 1 percent over and probably would of been accepted but the other two companies bids will never be known since they were late. Companies being millions apart is not uncommon at all in bids this large.

Got any idea what the cost of delaying construction for a year is when you figure in re-doing the plans along with inflationary material and labor costs? I have to think is something well over $1M.

No doubt coat will keep going up. When were the estimates done in relation to the bids? That could be a huge difference.

I wonder who the other two companies were.

I AM JUST GOING TO LAUGH THIS ONE OFF. I saw this coming from a mile away as soon the bids didn't make it in on time and the project was over budget. Everyone in Illinois hold on things are gonna get really bumpy for a while here. I see the income tax increase going back into effect along with a drastic amount of cuts in order to get the state to a sound budget. I could see a lot of state parks closing and possibly even a university if it got bad enough.

State needs to work on its tourism side of things. Need them to let developers come in on part of a lake like Shelbyville and bring in some resorts and attractions like Lake of Ozarks style in order to bring in more money to the state and tap more potential.
