Hardly, as it could provide a clue to potential job seekers as to how much attention to detail is going on in an organization. Perception is everything.
Actually, the tennis and basketball positions are posted on the WIU website, but under faculty positions. However, still nothing about the AD. https://wiu.interviewexchange.com/stati ... jsp?c=1098

I am getting concerned they may just appoint the interim or someone from. Several recent job openings have had just one interview. That is the case for the Development Office, though that is a returning employee, and the Financial Aid office, with a former interim the only one being interviewed.

I would think that the longer the delay goes into summer, the smaller the pool of good candidates becomes.

That is good to know about the coaching posts (maybe someone updated the page or maybe I had sleep too much sleep in my eyes early this morning. LOL) BTW, there is still something strange with the way that web page is working. Drag the mouse down the left panel of the page to Employment and let loose on the Faculty item to right. It takes you to Staff and Administrative. Or maybe it just my browser misbehaving (I am dealing with browser inconsistencies at this very moment on my Pigskin Pick'em project).

It's not just you, it's going to the wrong page. The page that is linked above is actually the "faculty positions" page...apparently athletics coaches falls under that category in the system.

And it's been that way for a while. I find I have to scroll way down the bottom under the Employment link and access from there, using back on the browser to get the to the other options.

I told Web Services about the issue with the link.

Also...here's your answer to the AD question: http://goleathernecks.com/news/2015/6/5 ... 53816.aspx
I'm betting it had something to do with the uncertainty about the state budget. There's a lot of departments that are kinda in a "holding pattern" with regards to any sort of hiring until we figure out exactly how much (or how little) we're getting from the state.

Scott I hope that is the main reason I guess, Otherwise I don't understand the announcement unless they just want to see what he can do. Either give him the job or let's get one hired, but maybe Scott is onto something.

Spent most of the day working with Matt at the LC Golf outing. Young, smart, determined with a true insight and vision for WIU athletics. He is not interested in tredding water athletically! Of course this is my opinion! ;) jc

Yea, this is entirely possible too. He's young, kinda inexperienced, but if he's got some great ideas and a good energy (as well as being already very familiar with the department, school, town, region, state...and how they all interact), I could see them wanting to give him a full year to see what he can do...start implementing some ideas. Plus he's also likely familiar with some of the good ideas that Tommy Bell might have discussed with the rest of the athletics department.

The financial aspect of just hiring/promoting from within is also a benefit in this fairly uncertain time.

I'm sure this fellow is a talented individual. However, this looks like a decision that is safe, cheap and demonstrates a view that things will continue as it is for awhile. I think we can expect little radical changes, and more of the same, more of the same. Really disappointed in a safe, cheap decision., that isn't even a long term commitment.

You also most wonder what the coaches are thinking. We have an interim, no commitment from admin=lack of confidence to begin with. I have worked at a four year college where a similar thing took place, and the coaches " went wild ". By that I mean, they started doing whatever they wanted because they knew the person in charge was a possible short timer, with little strong authority- an interim. The President finally stepped in and made some wholesale changes, just to get some type of control over the athletic department. A new AD was hired to be in charge, the coaches responded or were fired. The program is now stronger than ever before.
