Most of the international students are in the Master's Degree Computer Science Program if I am not mistaken.  Could be called something else though.  Alot of the underclass international students are athletes, especially soccer and track and field.  I was kind of curious to see what the percentage of international students are at state institutions.  I think Illinois tops that list again with international students working toward Master's Degrees!

Oh by the way, I really liked this statement from ST!! "Campus feels a lot busier than it has since before the pandemic."  The southwest side of campus is really going to get busy in the next few weeks with the CPA under construction!  Let the fun begin! ;)jc

yes, that is the President's primary focus. 15% of our student population is international.

And we don't do "in-state" and "out-of-state" tuition...we do "US" and "international" tuition. So international students pay more than US students.

True, but that is an added benefit, not the reason beyond the push.

Plus, international students cannot opt-out of student insurance by proving they have their own equivalent insurance, so makes those coffers happy, too.

FYI. NIU also charges the same in-state or out-of-state.

True, but I thought it was worth pointing out that more international students is generally a good thing for the financial situation.
SIU does the same thing with in-state/out-of-state as well.

For the other schools who have reported their numbers so far:
U of I - up 0.61% to 56,644
UIC - down 1.32% to 33,747
UIS - up 6.44% to 4,198
EIU - up 2.89% to 8,857
ISU - up 2.22% to 20,683
NIU - down 3.60% to 15,649
SIU-C - down 1.41% to 11,107
As near as I can tell, none of the other state schools have released their numbers yet.

UofI wanted to get more international students to show up at football games a few years back so what did they do?  Educated them.
We should reach out as well.

If you can establish a top-notch program(s) that meets their needs back in their homeland,  you get a guaranteed pipeline of students every year.

Of the overall enrollment, Western has 6,763 students in Macomb.

‘Gaining momentum': WIU enrollment is up.

And that's what I meant about the number being somewhat tricky to calculate...different numbers depending on your definition.

Per the Registrar, there's 4,110 in-person Macomb students and 3,112 online/extension students. A number of those "online" students are actually located in Macomb (apparently around 2,600) but take the majority of their classes online, so if you're asking how many students are located in Macomb, that's 6,763.

If you take the majority of your classes in-person, you are a "Macomb" student. If you take the majority of your classes online, you are an "online" student.
If you have a student taking 5 3-hour classes (15 hours) and they live in Thompson Hall, take 2 of their classes in a "regular" classroom with the teacher and other students in-person, and they take 3 classes online sitting in their dorm room, then that counts as an "online" student. But, they're still in Macomb, still "on campus", just not a "Macomb student" as they are currently calculating those numbers.

That means only 421 at the QC campus. That's abysmal. Imagine spending $1M a student to build a campus. No one in their right mind would do that.

That is correct (on all points).
