May 8-11 at North Dakota State.

Wednesday's games:
3:00 PM: #4 South Dakota State vs #5 North Dakota. Winner plays #1 North Dakota State at Noon on Thursday.
5:30 PM: #3 Western vs #6 Purdue Fort Wayne. Winner plays #2 South Dakota at 2:30 PM on Thursday.

Thursdays games will start a double-elimination format.

I was hoping to be sitting at the local pub about now enjoying a victory Jack and Coke. Instead, I will be crying in my beer. Ira ran out of gas late and the Dons started squaring up against her. Not a fan of the one and done in first round of a 6 team tournament bracket.

Sad ending to the Western Softball season.

Western was leading 5-1 going into the 6th inning. But Purdue Fort Wayne scored two runs in the 6th inning and two more in the 7th inning to tie the game 5-5. PFW then scored two runs in the top of the 8th inning to take a 7-5 lead. Western did not score in the bottom of the 8th. PFW won the game 7-5.

Weather: 49, overcast.

Attendance at North Dakota State = 205.

In the first game, South Dakota State beat North Dakota 4-2.

Double-elimination games begin on Thursday:
12 Noon: #1 North Dakota State vs #4 South Dakota State.
2:30 PM: #2 South Dakota vs #6 Purdue Fort Wayne.
5:00 PM: The two losers play in an elimination game.

On a generally positive note, the all-weather turf field in Fargo is very nice.

#1 North Dakota State beat #4 South Dakota State 6-3.
#2 South Dakota beat #6 Purdue Fort Wayne 5-1.
#4 South Dakota State beat #6 Purdue Fort Wayne 7-6. Purdue Fort Wayne has been eliminated.

Thursday's weather: 55, partly cloudy.

Thursday's attendance = 311.


Friday's schedule:
1:00 PM: #1 North Dakota State vs #2 South Dakota.
3:30 PM: Loser of above game vs #4 South Dakota State. Loser of this game will be eliminated.

#2 South Dakota beat #1 North Dakota State 10-1. Game was stopped in the 5th inning via the eight-run rule.
#1 North Dakota State beat #4 South Dakota State 5-0. South Dakota State has been eliminated.

Weather: 56, cloudy.

Attendance at North Dakota State = 336.


Saturday's schedule:
1:00 PM: #2 South Dakota vs #1 North Dakota State. If North Dakota State wins this game, a second game will follow at 3:30 PM.

#1 North Dakota State beat #2 South Dakota twice today (6-0 and 3-1) to win the Summit League Tournament.

Weather: 58, cloudy.

NDSU freshman hurler and Summit All-2nd Team pitcher Paige Vargas throwing both games on Saturday and only giving up 1 run is amazing. Summit League All-First team pitcher KK Leddy not used on Saturday. Go figure.
