I wonder if the new Summit League commissioner will have the balls to move the conference hoops tournament around a little bit.  The Municipal Auditorium in KC would be an ideal location.  It was the home for 'Roos basketball for a while but seems like they have moved back to Swinney Center on campus of late.  BTW, Municipal Auditorium was the location of WIUs arguably most famous claim to fame in the sport of college basketball when we faced off against Tennesee State for the NAIA national championship in 1958.  Came out on the short end of that contest as we did in the championship game in 1954 against St. Benedict's (KS).  I would take those kind of defeats 7 days a week and twice on Sundays.

My strategy for this game tonight is simple.  Don't fall prey to the 'Roos ruses.  Tough in your face defense from the getgo, please.

Video stream frozen for me.  Is it working for anyone else?

Temporary glitch I guess.  Now working for me.

Another hole to dig out of tonight.  We look terrible on D and O.

17 down at the half.  Sometimes a team's gear gets stuck where it was the game before.  KC is a much quicker team than St. Thomas.  Need to shift into overdrive against them.

Bring Jack Margenthaler in for a consult.  His MO was always to kick the opponent in the nuts during the first 5 minutes of the game.  Before the 3 point shot, not uncommon for his Leatherneck team to run and gun and have 20+ points on the board after 5 minutes.

UMKC won the game 83-75.

Will Carius led the Western scoring with 18 points.  Luka Barisic had 17.  Colton Sandage had 15.  Tamell Pearson had 12.

UMKC was 11 of 20 on three-pointers (55%).

Coach Nick Irwin was back.

The Pep Band got new shirts at halftime.

Attendance at Western Hall = 633.

Next game will be at Oral Roberts on Thursday (Feb 3).  Game time is 7:00 PM.

I’ve got faith in coach jeter & co.  They will get it figured out.

While it took 10 minutes too long....it was nice to see some defensive changes to try and stop the guard that was obviously too fast for them. Wright would live and die with man coverage, and sometimes you have to admit another team is faster and changes need to happen.

Flip side.....we get a couple of the missed fouls early in the game and get to the free throw line, this game should not have been out of hand so quickly. IMHO
