Was it The "Original" Change of Pace not too far off the square from back in the 70s or was it the 2nd coming one?
One I remember was an old hotel I think, lots of nooks and crannies to mingle around in, nice Saturday morning pool tournament IIRC.

The original Change of Pace was located across from Chandler Park, diagonally from the train station, but had to move when they put in the bypass. It was located essentially where this parking lot and bushes are located now: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4607855 ... 328!8i1664

They moved to the "new" location here after that: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4610539 ... 312!8i6656

The Hotel Pace was built in 1899 by C. V. Chandler.  It was located at 226 North Lafayette.

It was torn down in 1990 to make way for the widening of Highway 136.
