Looks like Sampson is going to have a bit of an "uphill climb" if he wants to get much playing time for the Maulers.
Pittsburgh already had a couple of former FBS QBs (one of which spent the last few years on NFL practice squads), but they also have Chase Fourcade (played at Nicholls State, 2-time Southland Offensive POY, set school records for passing yards, passing TDs, completion %, total yards, rushing TDs, and TDs responsible for).
And, today in the first round of the USFL draft, the team picked up Lindsey Scott Jr., the Incarnate Word QB who won the Payton award last year, averaging 334.7 passing yards per game with 60 TDs, 8 INTs, a 71% completion percentage, and an average of 50.9 yards rushing with 11 rushing TDs.
