GDT IUPUI 7pm

This 7pm Friday fracus features a team which has been a bit of a surprise to me this year. A new coach (Jason Gardner) and a new home venue (Indiana Farmers Coliseum) may have a lot to do with the turnaround. But IMO, the biggest reason is simply because they have a whole bunch of veteran leadership and know-how on this team. In fact, IUPUI may be the only team in the nation to suit up four (4) players who have already earned their degrees. They could probably coach themselves if push came to shove. If they had a fan board, we might be able to gain some more insight but no such luck. Why so little fan interest you might ask? That is easy. ALL of their students owe allegiance to EITHER Indiana University OR Purdue University for their diplomas. That is a tough nut to crack for any Athletic Department.

Tough situation or not, we still must bring the A game to compete with these guys:

Today's trivia question:

Based on enrollment numbers, does IUPUI have more IU supporters or PU supporters?

JC will be in the "Hall" tonight accompanied by his darling wife. Have not discussed kiss cam chances but we should be able to react correctly if given the opportunity. Looking forward to watching a game up close and personal plus first time to see new boards! Let the fun begin! ;) jc

The folks in the "Hall" got their money worth in this one. Western comes away with a thrilling 63-59 victory. Fuller impressive again. Mo was a horse on the boards. Garret with the dagger at the end.

Western wins 63-59.

ESPN has named J.C. Fuller as Western's "Top Performer": 20 Pts, 3 Reb, 2 Ast.

Western only shot 4 free throws, but made 3--including the two by Mo Conde in the last few seconds.

IUPUI shot 12 free throws and made 8.

Attendance at Western Hall was 1,294.

I heard this idea for using the new video board at Friday night's game:

At the under 4:00 media time-out in the 2nd half, the "Hey" song ("Rock and Roll") is played. The video board can join in on that by flashing the words that the crowd yells out:

HEY! Go Western!
HEY! Go Western!
HEY! Go Western!
Let's Go, WIU!
Let's Go, WIU!

We have no control over when the Summit League schedules conference games.
