Re: Program cuts
I love the idea of an engineering school at Western. Partially because I AM an engineer. But WIU's program has quite a ways to go before it gets to a point where it's competing against other regional engineering programs. I'm a civil engineer, therefore, I want to hire a civil engineer graduate with ...

Re: Program cuts
I'm pretty sure all the state schools' faculties have a union representing them. U of I is no different. http://cfaillinois.org/about/ Just google "School X" and "faculty union" and you'll be directed to the page. You can stop with that opinion formulation now.

Re: Program cuts
I'm sorry, one more from the McDonough County Voice on their really, really good coverage of the Stewart/video/admin saga.
Biller on Thursday reiterated the investigation of Stewart led him to believe the university's Publications Board, which manages the Courier, is "a mess" and to blame for ...

Re: Program cuts
You also get it WIU0812! You're exactly right, better incoming students = better graduate base = greater incomes = greater endowment = the ball keeps rolling...
And you're also absolutely right about the role community colleges play in the discussion, along with trade schools. If you have a 16-18 ...

Re: Program cuts
Just a few thoughts of my own on this.
One, the enrollment thing is a bit surprising to me. I always hear it's not that bad, but that 8 year decline sorta speaks for itself.
Two, I'd like everyone to form their own opinions on this, but do some research on Nicholas Stewart/Western Courier/WIU ...

Re: GDT Omaha
Not sure what you've been watching lately 812, but JC's been terrible. Kid has some talent, but if you look at his stats, he's shooting 34% from the field, 17% from 3pt land, and has a pedestrian assist-to-turnover ratio for a point guard. Moreover, it seems to me from being at the last few games ...

Re: Wouldn't it be nice (a new basketball arena)
A few things... GCU is a FOR PROFIT school, like University of Phoenix or others of that ilk. No doubt that type of education has boomed in the last decade or so, but it may not forever.
I love to dream too ST, but more so, I like setting difficult goals that can be achieved with hard work. To me ...

Re: SIU AD Job Opening
Wow... listen to yourselves! Sometimes y'all blow my mind. I post a discussion hoping that people would at least chime in throw some love Tommy's way, instead we get a bunch of "give us a shiny new stadium" paid for by Leatherneck Nation's snake oil. Seriously... rewind about a year ago when the ...

SIU AD Job Opening
Sooooo... is nobody talking about the fact that SIU's AD job just opened up? You know, the school our AD has strong ties to, who's wife happens to be an Interim Dean at... Someone tell me we shouldn't be worried...
